Maui: Add Products

This article will walk you through how to add Products to Maui.

Flowhub Maui offers users a variety of workflows for adding products. Products are the home base for information about each of the items you sell in your dispensary. Products allow you to add variants to products like shirt sizes, dosage sizes, flavors, and more to keep your product catalog precise and organized. This article will explain how to add products and their variants and provide examples of variants in popular categories. For more information on adding products, watch the video below:


Accessory Products:

  1. Navigate to the menu in the upper left corner of the screen and select INVENTORY.

  2. Across the purple bar at the top of the screen, select PRODUCTS.

  3. Select the NEW PRODUCT button.

  4. Select a Category from the drop-down menu.

    • Your categories will populate the required fields when creating products and Inventory items.

    • These required fields are marked with an asterisk and can vary based on your market.

    • These fields can include testing information, terpenes, serving size, and more.

  5. Enter a Name.

    • It is best to follow the same naming conventions across all your stores. This will help identify items in the cashier app and make transfers between stores seamless. For example, if your naming conventions are brand, name, and type, an example accessory would look like the following: Sandy Shores Hemp Wraps.

  6. Enter an optional Brand.

    • Manufacturer of the Accessory product.

    • This information will help with deals and reporting in the future

  7. Enter an optional Type:

    • This acts as a subcategory in the category. This will allow you to set up deals based on type and filter reports to make it easier to search for items in your inventory.

      • Types can include flavors, colors, and sizes.

  8. Enter an optional Description.

    • This information will be pushed to your online menu integrator.

  9. Enter an optional UPC (Universal Product Code)

    • A UPC is a universal bar code/SKU

    • For example, a lighter that has the same barcode no matter how many times you reorder that product.

  10. Select an optional UOM (unit of measure):

    • You leave this blank for items that don't require a unit of measure, like clothing, papers, glass, etc.

    • You can use this option when selling items like CBD drinks, lotions, or tinctures that aren't tracked by compliance authorities.

  11. Enter an optional Par Level.

    • The lowest number of items you want to have in stock before reordering.

    • This information can be retrieved in Analytics by running a Par Level Report.

  12. Sell By Weight and Use Price Profile options:

    • Both of these settings are optional for accessory items.

    • You can use these if your dispensary sells bulk CBD or Hemp flower that are not tracked by compliance authorities.

  13. Select the inventory type.

    • Med

    • Rec

    • Both

  14. Pricing:

    • Set a Default Price.

      • The price you want to sell this item to your patients/customers

      • If your dispensary has Out the Door (OTD) pricing enabled, you'll set the post-tax price here.

    • Set a Default Cost.

      • What does it cost your store to purchase this item from a supplier or wholesaler

    • Select "ADD LOCATION AND/OR GROUP SPECIFIC PRICE" to expand that menu and select a relevant price and cost for specific locations or customer groups.


Flower Products:

Bulk & Pre-Packed Flower

In Flowhub Maui, you're able to set up a Product to sell by Weight (also known as "deli style" or "bulk") or by a Prepacked Weight Unit, simply by toggling the "Sell by Weight" checkbox on the Product details page. When "Sell by Weight" is selected on a Product, you are telling Flowhub: "I sell this product in bulk / by weight."

Pre-Packed Flower

  1. Navigate to the menu in the upper left corner of the screen and select INVENTORY.

  2. Across the purple bar at the top of the screen, select PRODUCTS.

  3. Select the NEW PRODUCT button.

  4. Select a Category from the drop-down menu.

    • Your categories will populate the required fields when creating products and Inventory items.

    • These required fields are marked with an asterisk and can vary based on your market.

    • These fields can include testing information, terpenes, serving size, and more.

  5. Enter a Name.

    • It is best to follow the same naming conventions across all your stores. This will help identify items in the cashier app and make transfers between stores seamless. For example, if your naming conventions are brand, name, and total mg of THC in the package, your item would look like the following: Sandy Shores OG Kush 3.5g.

  6. Enter an optional Brand.

    • Manufacturer of the Flower Product

    • This information will help with deals and reporting in the future

  7. Enter an optional Type.

    • This acts as a subcategory in the category. This will allow you to set up deals based on type and filter reports to make it easier to search for items in your inventory.

      • Types can include joints, heavy eighths, and 1g Pre-Roll,

  8. Enter an optional Description.

    • This information will be pushed to your online menu integrator.

  9. Select an optional Strain Species.

    • Indica

    • Sativa

    • hybrid

  10. Enter an optional UPC (Universal Product Code)

    1. A UPC is a universal bar code/SKU

    2. UPCs are not typically used with cannabis items.

  11. Enter Weight/Volume

    • For packs of Joints, enter the weight of the entire pack combined. For example, for a 5-pack of 1 g joints, you would enter a weight of 5.

    • For example, if this product is sold in 7g units, enter "7" into the Weight/Volume field, then select "Grams" as the Unit of Measure (UOM).

    • If the Weight/Volume field is grayed out/ not editable:

      • You'll need to deselect the "Sell by Weight" checkbox above the Inventory Type. This will allow you to enter a Weight/Volume for the prepacked amount, and sell the item as a prepacked unit.

  12. Select the unit of measure.

    • Flower will always use "Grams" as its UOM.

  13. Enter an optional Par Level.

    • The lowest number of items you want to have in stock before reordering.

    • This information can be retrieved in Analytics by running a Par Level Report.

  14. Sell By Weight and Use Price Profile options:

    • For Pre-packed Flower there are two options:

      • Check USE PRICE PROFILE

        • Enter weight in the Weight /Volume box for which you have a Price Profile tier.

        • Ex. 3.5 for an eighth.

      • Dont check USE PRICE PROFILE

        • This would allow you to enter the price you want to sell your pre-packed flower for and not use a price profile

        • Enter the unit weight into the "Weight/Volume" field.

        • For example, if this product is sold in 7g units, enter "7" into the Weight/Volume field, then select "Grams" as the Unit of Measure (UOM).

  15. Select the inventory type.

    • Med

    • Rec

    • Both

  16. Pricing

    • Select a Price Profile from the drop-down menu (will appear when USE PRICE PROFILE box is selected) or enter a Price

      • If your dispensary has Out the Door (OTD) pricing turned on, you'll set the post-tax price here.

    • Set a Default cost per gram for bulk bud or per unit for packed bud.

    • Select "ADD LOCATION AND/OR GROUP SPECIFIC PRICE" to expand that menu and select a relevant Price Profile and cost for specific locations or customer groups.

Deli Style / Bulk / by Weight at the time of Sale Flower

  1. Navigate to the menu in the upper left corner of the screen and select INVENTORY.

  2. Across the purple bar at the top of the screen, select PRODUCTS.

  3. Select the NEW PRODUCT button.

  4. Select a Category from the drop-down menu.

    • Your categories will populate the required fields when creating products and Inventory items.

    • These required fields are marked with an asterisk and can vary based on your market.

    • These fields can include testing information, terpenes, serving size, and more.

  5. Enter a Name.

    • It is best to follow the same naming conventions across all your stores. This will help identify items in the cashier app and make transfers between stores seamless. For example, if your naming conventions are brand, name, and total mg of THC in the package, your item would look like the following: Sandy Shores OG Kush 3.5g.

  6. Enter an optional Brand.

    • Manufacturer of the Flower Product

    • This information will help with deals and reporting in the future

  7. Enter an optional Type.

    • This acts as a subcategory in the category. This will allow you to set up deals based on type and filter reports to make it easier to search for items in your inventory.

      • Types are not always used when adding bulk flower. Some dispensaries choose to use the type BULK

  8. Enter an optional Description.

    • This information will be pushed to your online menu integrator.

  9. Select an optional Strain Species.

    • Indica

    • Sativa

    • Hybrid

  10. Enter an optional UPC (Universal Product Code)

    • A UPC is a universal bar code/SKU

    • UPCs are not typically used with cannabis items.

  11. Enter Weight/Volume

    • Skip this box - although it might seem required, it is not!

      • If the Weight/Volume field is not grayed out/ not editable:

        • You'll need to select the "Sell by Weight" checkbox above the Inventory Type. This will allow you to not enter a Weight/Volume for the bulk flower amount, and sell the item based on the weight

  12. Select the unit of measure.

    • Flower will always use "Grams" as its UOM.

  13. Enter an optional Par Level.

    • The lowest number of items you want to have in stock before reordering.

    • This information can be retrieved in Analytics by running a Par Level Report.

  14. Sell By Weight and Use Price Profile options:

    • Check the boxes for SELL BY WEIGHT and USE PRICE PROFILE

      • Assign a price profile to the product

      • This helps determine the price of the item based on the amount that is weighed out at the time of sale.

  15. Select the inventory type.

    • Med

    • Rec

    • Both

  16. Pricing

    • Select a Price Profile from the drop-down menu (will appear when the USE PRICE PROFILE box is selected)

    • Set a Default cost per gram for bulk bud or per unit for packed bud.

    • Select "ADD LOCATION AND/OR GROUP SPECIFIC PRICE" to expand that menu and select a relevant Price Profile and cost for specific locations or customer groups.


Adding Non-flower Items to Catalog:

  1. Navigate to the menu in the upper left corner of the screen and select INVENTORY.

  2. Across the purple bar at the top of the screen, select PRODUCTS.

  3. Select the NEW PRODUCT button.

  4. Select a Category from the drop-down menu.

    • Your categories will populate the required fields when creating products and Inventory items.

    • These required fields are marked with an asterisk and can vary based on your market.

    • These fields can include testing information, terpenes, serving size, and more.

  5. Enter a Name.

    • It is best to follow the same naming conventions across all your stores. This will help identify items in the cashier app and make transfers between stores seamless. For example, if your naming conventions are brand, name, and type, an example accessory would look like the following: Sandy Shores Live Rosin.

  6. Enter an optional Brand.

    • Manufacturer of the Product

    • This information will help with deals and reporting in the future

  7. Enter an optional Type.

    • This acts as a subcategory in the category. This will allow you to set up specials based on type and filter reports to make it easier to search for items in your inventory.

      • Types can include sugar, wax, cold-cure, etc.

  8. Enter an optional Description.

    • This information will be pushed to your online menu integrator.

  9. Enter an optional UPC (Universal Product Code)

    • A UPC is a universal bar code/SKU

    • UPCs are not typically used with cannabis items

  10. Select the UOM (Unit of Measure).

    • Grams

    • Fluid Ounces

    • Milliliters

  11. Enter an optional Par Level.

    • The lowest number of items you want to have in stock before reordering.

    • This information can be retrieved in Analytics by running a Par Level Report.

  12. Enter Weight/Volume.

    • This is not required when SELL BY WEIGHT is enabled.

  13. Sell By Weight and Use Price Profile options:

    • For Bulk Concentrates:

      • Check the "SELL BY WEIGHT" box for bulk bud variations.

      • When this box is checked, the "USE PRICE PROFILE" box is automatically checked. This is because a Price Profile is needed to determine the price of any given weight of bulk concentrates.

    • For Pre-packed Concentrates:

      • Check the "USE PRICE PROFILE"

      • Enter weight in the Weight /Volume box for which you have a Price Profile tier.

  14. Select the inventory type.

    • Med

    • Rec

    • Both

  15. Pricing

    1. Select a Price Profile from the drop-down menu or enter a Price for individual products.

      • If your dispensary has Out the Door (OTD) pricing enabled, you'll set the post-tax price here.

    2. Set a Default cost per gram for bulk concentrates or per unit for all other products.

      • Select "ADD LOCATION AND/OR GROUP SPECIFIC PRICE" to expand that menu and select a relevant Price Profile and cost for specific locations or customer groups.


Add Variations

Variations are used when you have the same brand and type, but different weights or flavors.

  1. Select ADD ANOTHER VARIANT

  2. The information entered in the previous section will act as Your First Variant.

  3. Enter a name for your Next Variant.

    • These variants will typically involve the weight options for the product.

    • For example, a 1g Cart, a 5 g bucket of budder, or a 100 mg edible.

  4. Enter an optional UPC.

  5. Select the UOM (Unit of Measure).

    • Grams

    • Fluid Ounces

    • Milliliters

  6. Enter an optional Par Level.

    • The lowest number of items you want to have in stock before reordering.

    • This information can be retrieved in Analytics by running a Par Level Report.

  7. Enter Weight/Volume.

    • This is not required when SELL BY WEIGHT is enabled.

  8. Sell By Weight and Use Price Profile options:

    • For Bulk Concentrates:

      • Check the "SELL BY WEIGHT" box for bulk bud variations.

Add Products via CSV

  1. Open the Menu on the left side and select "Inventory"

  2. Once in "Inventory," select "Products" across the purple bar at the top of the screen

  3. Click on the "Upload CSV" button in the upper right corner

  4. Use the dropdown menu to select the category you would like to upload.

  5. Click "Get Template." Repeat for all product categories.

  6. Fill in the CSV files, and save them as a CSV file for upload.

    1. Anything with an asterisk (*) in the heading is required to upload the file.

  7. Go back to the "Products" section again and select "Upload CSV" in the upper right corner

  8. Choose your saved file, select your file type, and select "Upload."

    1. If you have any errors, you will see what errors occurred, and an option to download the CSV with the errors. Fix the errors in the CSV and reupload.

  9. Repeat for all categories.

Tips for Uploading via CSV:

  • Anything with an asterisk (*) in the heading is required to upload the file.

  • If you are using Product Variations, your Product Name must be the same, otherwise, you will create multiple products.
