Opening a drawer allows an employee to begin processing transactions for their shift. Each drawer records activity separately to maintain accurate cash tracking and accountability.
Before You Begin
You must have Can View (or higher) permission under the Drawers section of your Role to open a drawer. If you don't see the Count & Open button, ask an admin to check your permissions. See Drawer Role Permissions.
Open a Drawer
Navigate to Drawers from the menu in the upper left corner.
A list of drawers (opened or closed) will display.
Select the button Count & Open
Enter the cash amount that the Drawer is starting with

The drawer will automatically assign whoever is logged in to the drawer.
Remove any Users from the Drawer by selecting the user's initials

A user can be assigned multiple Drawers.
The Drawer is open and ready to use!

❓ Frequently Asked Questions
Do I have to enter the cash denominations (number of $5, $10s, etc.)?
No. You can change the store settings to ask for the total drawer amount instead of individual denominations.
Is a starting amount required?
Flowhub will always prompt you to enter a starting amount, but that starting amount could be $0.00 if your store wants.
Can I change the starting amount after I've opened the drawer?
No. Once a drawer is opened, the starting balance can't be edited. Double-check your count before selecting Save. If you need to correct it, close the drawer and reopen it with the correct amount.
What if the wrong user is assigned?
Select the user's initials to remove them from the drawer, then add the correct user with the plus button.
What if I don't have permission to open a drawer?
You'll need Can View access (at minimum) under the Drawers section of your Role. Ask an admin to grant this — see Drawer Role Permissions.
Can more than one drawer be open at the same time?
Yes, but it's recommended to have one drawer per active register/station. See Create a Drawer.
