Flowhub’s Live Limit Check feature helps medical dispensaries stay compliant by verifying each customer’s daily purchase limit before completing a sale. This process automatically checks limits in real time, ensuring transactions meet regulatory standards and preventing overselling.

For medical dispensaries operating in states where patient purchase limits are stored in Metrc, Flowhub Maui can look up your Patients' current limits directly in their cart or alert you if their Med ID information does not match Metrc. Once you have verified your employees' permissions in Metrc and assigned an API key to each transacting employee, you'll be ready to enable Live Metrc Limit Check.

For Flowhub to seamlessly communicate with Metrc, a user in Flowhub will need to attach an API Key to their Employee profile. Employees will need the permissions to "Patient Status Lookup" / "Caregiver Status Lookup" in Metrc on their API key for this to work. If you have any questions about the permissions and features needed for Metrc employee profiles, please reach out to support@metrc.com.

Enable Live Limit Check in Flowhub Maui

  1. Navigate to Account > Settings > Regulatory Compliance.

  2. Enable the toggle for Live Check In.

    • This activates real-time purchase limit verification for all sales in Cashier.

    • If you would prefer not to allow any budtender to check out a Medical Patient without pulling current available purchase limits from Metrc, you can also enable Block Checkout if Live Limit Check Fails.

  3. Save All Settings to apply the setting.

💡 Tip: This is only for Medical stores in certain states that store Patients' current limits in Metrc.

How Live Limit Check Works in the Cashier

Once enabled, Live Limit Check verifies every sale at the register.

  1. Start a new transaction in Cashier.

  2. Add products to the cart as usual.

    • The purchase limit will appear in the upper-right corner of the cart

    • If the limit fails to pull from Metrc, an error message will appear in the upper right corner.

      • If this message appears:

        • Check the patient's Med ID # and ensure it is entered in Flowhub exactly as their card reads (including "PATS" in Mississippi).

        • If the Med ID # is correct and you are still receiving this error, you can continue to make the sale (if you do not have Block Checkout if Live Limit Check Fails turned on) however, you will need to check the patient's limits in Metrc before proceeding so you do not oversell.

        • We also recommend that you check that the patient's Medical card is still active.

  3. Adjust the cart to stay within the limit, then complete the sale.

For Colorado Medical: The Live limits failed message will appear if a Medical patient has not been established as a patient at any Colorado dispensary. You can still sell to medical patients if you see this message, but use extra caution when reviewing their medical cards. If you sign the medical patient up as a patient at your dispensary in Metrc, this message will disappear.
