Flowhub Customer Facing Display makes it quick and easy to show every shopper their own cart as it is rung up. In this article, we'll guide you through setting it up so your team can answer fewer price questions and close each sale with confidence.
š” Customer Facing Display is included with your Flowhub POS subscription and lives inside the Kiosk + CFD app. There is nothing extra to purchase and no separate app to download. If you already run Kiosk on a tablet, you have the app.
Before You Begin
Confirm these four things before you set up the display.
You have a tablet to dedicate to the display.
iPad Air 2 or newer, running iPadOS 15.1 or later.
Android tablet running Android 13 or newer. Flowhub recommends the Samsung Galaxy Tab A11+.
Every budtender who will use the display has an active Flowhub user account.
Customer Facing Display signs in with a budtender's own Flowhub credentials. It does not use a dedicated Kiosk role login.
Each display is paired with one Maui POS station.
One user, one display, one POS station.
Your Ecommerce theme is set up, if you want the display branded.
This is optional. The display runs without an Ecommerce setup and falls back to your store name in plain text.
ā ļø To access the CFD configuration menu on iPadOS 26 or later: navigate to Settings > Multitasking & Gestures > Full Screen Apps before you begin. In Windowed Apps or Stage Manager mode, the window controls sit on top of the hidden gesture that opens Settings, and you will not be able to reach the display's configuration screen.
Install the Kiosk + CFD App
Customer Facing Display ships inside the Kiosk + CFD app. Install it on the tablet you plan to face toward customers.
iPad
On the iPad, open the App Store.
Search for Kiosk + CFD.
Select Get, then confirm the download.
If the app is already installed, select Update instead. Customer Facing Display arrived in version 1.1.0.
Android tablet
On the tablet, open the Google Play Store.
Search for Kiosk + CFD.
Select Install.
If the app is already installed, select Update instead.
š” Tip: Customer Facing Display is not available on Windows. Windows devices can run Kiosk through a browser shortcut, but not the display. Read Create a Shortcut to Kiosk for Windows Devices for the Kiosk workaround.
Start Customer Facing Display Mode
The Kiosk + CFD app runs two different experiences. The first screen asks which one this tablet is for.
Open the Kiosk + CFD app.
A message will display asking What are you launching?
Select Customer facing display.
The other option, Kiosk, is the self-service ordering screen and is a separate feature.
Enter the budtender's Flowhub email address and password, then select Log in.
The display opens on the Idle Screen, showing your store logo or your store name.
š” Tip: A ? button in the lower right of the login screen opens the Flowhub CFD support page in the device's browser.
š” Tip: The app remembers the mode you chose and opens in it next time. You do not need to choose again each morning.
Pair the Display With a Register
Customer Facing Display mirrors one budtender's cart. It finds that cart by matching the Flowhub user signed in on the display to the same user signed in to Flowhub Maui.
Sign in to the display with a budtender's Flowhub account.
Have that same budtender sign in to exactly one Flowhub Maui POS station.
Position the tablet so the customer at that station can read it.
ā ļø One user, one display, one register. A budtender signed in to more than one Maui station at the same time is not supported. The display cannot tell which cart to mirror, and the customer may see the wrong order.
If you run three registers, you need three tablets and three budtenders signed in.
Test the Display
Run one throwaway cart before the doors open.
On the paired Maui station, check in a test customer and open a cart.
Confirm the display leaves the Idle Screen and moves to the cart.
Add an item in Maui, then confirm it appears on the display within about five seconds.
Apply a discount in Maui, then confirm the deal name and the savings appear on the display.
Compare the total on the display to the total in Maui. They should match exactly.
Complete or void the transaction, then confirm the display returns to the Idle Screen.
Frequently Asked Questions
Do I need to contact Flowhub to have Customer Facing Display switched on?
No. Update the Kiosk + CFD app, choose Customer facing display on the launch screen, and sign in. Customer Facing Display is included with your Flowhub POS subscription.
Is this the same thing as Kiosk?
No. They share one app and nothing else. Kiosk is a self-service screen your customers order from, and it needs a dedicated Kiosk role login. Kiosk subscription requirements vary ā contact your Flowhub representative if Kiosk is not available in your account. Customer Facing Display is a read-only second screen at the register that mirrors the budtender's cart, and it signs in with the budtender's own account.
Does each display need its own user account, the way each Kiosk does?
No. The display signs in as the budtender working that register, using credentials that already exist. There is nothing to create in Employees.
Do I need Flowhub Ecommerce to run the display?
No. Ecommerce is optional. Without it, the display shows your store name in plain text on a white background. With it, the display picks up your logo, your colors, and your banners.
Can customers touch the display or order from it?
The display is read-only apart from the loyalty sign-up. Customers cannot browse, change the cart, or check out from it.
Can I run the display on a Windows PC or a Mac?
Not at this time. Customer Facing Display runs on iPad and on Android tablets only.
What if the tablet is older than the requirement?
The app may refuse to install, and on a tablet below the recommended specification the display falls behind the register. Update the tablet's operating system first, or move to a device that meets the specification.
How do I switch back to Kiosk mode?
Tap the top left corner of the CFD window rapidly 10 times and then select sign out. Once you sign out, hit the back arrow in the top left corner of the window and then select Kiosk.
