Configure Customer Facing Display Settings

Brand your Customer Facing Display. Set the idle screen color or image, show banners, turn on suggested products, and protect settings with a PIN.

Written by Valerie

Flowhub Customer Facing Display makes it quick and easy to put your brand on the screen your customers read. In this article, we'll guide you through every setting so your team can match the display to the rest of your store.

šŸ’” Customer Facing Display settings live in two places. Your logo, colors, and banners come from Ecommerce in Flowhub Maui and apply to every display in the store. The idle screen image, suggested products, and the settings PIN are set on each tablet individually.

Open Settings on the Display

The Settings screen is hidden behind a gesture so customers cannot reach it.

  1. From the Idle Screen, select the top-left corner of the display five times.

  2. If Require PIN to open Settings is turned on, enter the PIN.

  3. The Settings screen displays.

āš ļø iPadOS 26 or later: on the iPad, navigate to Settings > Multitasking & Gestures > Full Screen Apps. In Windowed Apps or Stage Manager mode, the window controls sit on top of the top-left corner and block the gesture.

Set the Idle Screen

The Idle Screen is what customers see between transactions. Two settings control it, and an image beats a color.

Idle Screen Background Color

  • Sets the Idle Screen background color when no image is selected.

  • Enter the hex code for the color you want.

  • Your store logo displays over the top of it.

Idle Screen Cover Image

  • Select UPLOAD IMAGE and choose an image from the tablet's photo library.

  • The image is scaled to cover the screen while keeping its aspect ratio.

  • If no image is uploaded, the display falls back to the background color with your logo.

šŸ’” Tip: Shoot or crop the image at the tablet's own screen proportions before you upload it. Because the image is scaled to cover, an image with a different shape is cropped at the edges. The cover image is stored on that tablet. Set it on each display you want it on.

Show Banners on the Idle Screen

If your store has banners configured in Flowhub Ecommerce, the display can rotate them at the bottom of the Idle Screen in a carousel.

  1. Turn on Show banners on Idle Screen.

  2. Banners rotate on the Idle Screen between transactions.

Banners are created once in Maui and shared across Ecommerce, Kiosk, and the display. To create one, read Manage and Create Banners in Kiosk & Ecommerce.

The carousel holds up to eight banners, each showing for ten seconds at a time.

šŸ’” Tip: Swap the artwork for holidays, new drops, and local events so the screen keeps earning attention.

Turn On Suggested Products

  • Turn on Feature suggested products to display up to three products related to the customer's cart during checkout.

  • If there are no relevant suggestions, the area does not display.

  • Suggestions are read-only. The budtender adds anything the customer wants in Maui.

Protect Settings With a PIN

The hidden gesture keeps most customers out of Settings. A PIN keeps everyone out.

  1. Turn on Require PIN to open Settings.

  2. Set the PIN.

  3. From then on, the gesture presents a keypad and the rest of Settings stays hidden until the PIN is entered.

šŸ’” Tip: Use the PIN on any display a customer can reach unattended, and give the PIN to managers rather than to the whole floor.

Set Your Logo and Colors in Maui

Your logo and your color theme come from Ecommerce in Flowhub Maui, not from the tablet. Setting them once applies them to every display, plus your Ecommerce site and Kiosk.

  1. If you have multiple locations, select the location you want to edit.

  2. Select Ecommerce from the Flowhub main navigation menu.

  3. Select Customize across the bar at the top.

  4. Set your theme colors.

  5. Select Publish in the upper right corner.

Your logo comes from your Ecommerce settings rather than the Customize page. Once a logo is configured there, it displays on the CFD in place of your store name.

For the full walkthrough, read Customize Kiosk and Ecommerce Colors.

āš ļø Changes made in Maui do not reach a running display on their own. After you publish, open Settings on each display and select SYNC WITH MAUI.

Sync Changes to the Display

SYNC WITH MAUI pulls the latest user state into the display: Ecommerce styling changes made on the Maui side, store settings, taxes, colors, and logos. It is required if you are not signing out between changing locations.

  1. Open Settings on the display.

  2. Select SYNC WITH MAUI.

Run a sync after any of these:

  • You publish new colors, a new logo, or new banners in Ecommerce.

  • A user changes locations or stores.

  • Store settings, taxes, or deals change in Maui.

āš ļø Some changes need more than a sync. If certain store settings or user properties change in Maui, a sign-out and sign-in on the display may be required to pick up everything.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do I have to set these up on every tablet?

  • Some of them. The idle screen image, the banner toggle, suggested products, and the PIN are per-tablet. Your logo, colors, and the banners themselves come from Ecommerce and apply everywhere at once.

Can I use Customer Facing Display without Flowhub Ecommerce?

  • Yes. An Ecommerce store setup is not required. The display falls back to your store name in plain text on the background color you choose.

I published new colors in Ecommerce but the display did not change. Why?

  • The display caches settings. Open Settings on the display and select SYNC WITH MAUI, or sign out and sign in again.

Where do I upload the idle screen image from?

  • The tablet's own photo library. Save or share the image to the tablet first, then select UPLOAD IMAGE in Settings.

Can different locations have different branding?

  • Yes. Ecommerce colors and logos are set per location, so each store's displays pick up that store's theme.

Are display banners the same banners as my Ecommerce and Kiosk banners?

  • Yes. One banner set is shared. A banner created in Ecommerce > Customize > Banners appears on your Ecommerce site, your Kiosk, and any display with Show banners on Idle Screen turned on.

I forgot the settings PIN. What now?

Whoohoo! šŸ’ƒ Your Customer Facing Display looks like your store. Your logo, your colors, and your promotions are now in front of every customer at the counter.
