Troubleshoot Customer Facing Display

Fix the common Customer Facing Display problems: totals that do not match Maui, a screen stuck on idle, missing branding, and settings you cannot open.

Written by Valerie

Flowhub Customer Facing Display makes it quick and easy for shoppers to follow their cart, and most problems with it come down to one stale setting. In this article, we'll guide you through the fixes in the order that resolves the most cases first.

💡 Start here. Open Settings on the display and select SYNC WITH MAUI. It pulls the current store settings, taxes, colors, and logo down from Maui, and it clears the most common cause of a display that disagrees with the register. If it does not help, sign out of the display and sign back in.

Totals on the Display Do Not Match Maui

This is the problem that matters most, because a customer reading a different price than the one they pay is a compliance risk. The usual cause is cached store settings from a previous store, which a sync clears. This most often happens right after a budtender changes locations or stores. Their session still carries the previous store's taxes and deals until a sync clears it. If a sync does not fix it, escalate rather than work around it.

  1. Open Settings on the display and select SYNC WITH MAUI.

  2. Run a test cart and compare the totals again.

  3. If they still do not match, sign out of the display, then sign back in.

  4. Confirm the budtender signed in on the display is signed in to exactly one Maui station.

  5. If the totals still do not match, contact Flowhub support at help@flowhub.com with a screenshot of both screens.

⚠️ Take the display down while you work. A display showing prices that do not match the register is worse than no display.

The Display Never Leaves the Idle Screen

The display switches to the cart when the paired budtender begins working on a customer's order. If it stays on the Idle Screen, the pairing is the place to look.

  1. Confirm the display and the Maui station are signed in as the same Flowhub user.

  2. Confirm that user is signed in to only one Maui station. A user signed in to two stations is not supported, and the display cannot tell which cart to follow.

  3. Confirm the budtender has actually opened a cart in Maui, rather than only checking the customer in.

  4. Confirm the tablet is on the internet.

  5. Select SYNC WITH MAUI in Settings.

💡 Tip: One user, one display, one register. If two budtenders need displays, they need two tablets and two accounts.

The Cart Disappeared Mid-Sale

The display returns to the Idle Screen on purpose in three situations:

  • The transaction completed.

  • The customer left.

  • The customer was sent back to the queue.

If none of those happened, select SYNC WITH MAUI and confirm the tablet is still on the internet.

Settings Will Not Open

Settings opens when you select the top-left corner of the display five times.

  1. On iPadOS 26 or later, turn on Full Screen Apps. On the iPad, navigate to Settings > Multitasking & Gestures > Full Screen Apps. In Windowed Apps or Stage Manager mode, the window controls sit on top of the top-left corner and block the gesture entirely. This is the most common cause.

  2. Aim for the very corner, and keep the five selections quick and in the same spot.

  3. If a keypad displays, Require PIN to open Settings is turned on. Enter the PIN.

  4. If nobody has the PIN, contact Flowhub support at help@flowhub.com.

Branding Is Missing or Out of Date

What you see

What to do

Store name in plain text instead of your logo

Configure a logo in your Ecommerce settings, then select SYNC WITH MAUI on the display.

Old colors after publishing new ones

Select SYNC WITH MAUI on each display. Branding changes do not reach a running display on their own. If a sync is not enough, sign out and sign in again — some store settings and user properties only refresh on a new sign-in.

No banners on the Idle Screen

Turn on Show banners on Idle Screen in Settings, and confirm banners exist and are active for that store in Ecommerce > Customize > Banners.

Cover image looks cropped

The image is scaled to cover the screen while keeping its aspect ratio. Re-crop it closer to the tablet's screen proportions and upload it again.

Loyalty Points Are Not Showing

  • If your store does not use a loyalty provider, the loyalty area shows your logo, or your store name if no logo is configured. This is expected.

  • If you do use loyalty and points are not showing, select SYNC WITH MAUI, then sign out and sign in again.

Suggested Products Are Not Showing

  1. Confirm Feature suggested products is turned on in Settings.

  2. Confirm there is something in the cart. Suggestions are based on the cart's contents.

  3. If there are no relevant suggestions for that cart, the area does not display. This is expected.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the single fix I should try first?

  • Open Settings and select SYNC WITH MAUI. It clears cached store settings, which is the most common cause of a display that disagrees with the register.

When do I need to sync?

  • After a user changes locations or stores, and after you publish new colors, a new logo, or new banners in Ecommerce. Store setting, tax, and deal changes in Maui also call for a sync.

Can I run the display on a Windows PC?

  • Not at this time. Customer Facing Display runs on iPad and on Android tablets only.

The app updated and now the launch screen asks which app to open. Is something wrong?

  • No. The Kiosk + CFD app runs two experiences and asks once which one this tablet is for. Select the customer facing display option. The app remembers the choice.

Do I need to restart the tablet every day?

  • No. Sign in once and leave the app running. A sign-out and sign-in is a troubleshooting step, not a daily routine.

How do I find the app version for a support ticket?

  • Open Settings on the display. The version displays on that screen alongside the store name and the signed-in user.

Who do I contact if none of this works?

  • Flowhub support at help@flowhub.com. Include the app version, the tablet model and operating system version, a screenshot of the display, and a screenshot of the same cart in Maui.

You did it! 🙌 Your display is back in sync with the register. Your customers see the same cart and the same total your budtender does.
