Flowhub Intelligence custom dashboards let you build personalized, visual analytics views tailored to how you run your business. In this article, we'll guide you through creating a dashboard from scratch, adding tiles, and configuring metrics so your team can monitor exactly the data that matters most.
Custom dashboards are where Intelligence really shines. If pre-made dashboards are ready-to-eat meals, custom dashboards give you the full kitchen: you pick which metrics to display, how to visualize them, and how to arrange everything on screen.
Watch the video below for more information on adding and customizing dashboard tiles in Intelligence.
Create a New Dashboard
Navigate to the Intelligence tab in the left navigation.
Select Dashboards.
Select New Dashboard in the bottom left corner of the window.
Enter a name for your dashboard.
Select Create.
Your new dashboard will display as a blank canvas, ready for tiles.
Add a Tile
Select Add Your First Tile on your dashboard.
The tile editor will display with the following configuration options.
Select a Tile Type
Choose how you want the data to display. Each tile type is suited to different kinds of analysis:
Bar Chart compares values across time periods or categories, such as daily sales.
KPI highlights up to four key metrics at a glance with trend indicators, such as total revenue or active customers.
Line Chart shows trends over time with multiple overlapping data series, such as net profit versus gross sales over 30 days.
Area Chart is similar to a line chart but with filled regions, making it easier to compare volume between series visually.
Pie Chart shows proportions and composition, such as sales by category. You can toggle between a filled pie view and a donut view.
Bar-Line Combo compares two related metrics on the same time axis, such as daily sales count as bars with revenue as a line overlay.
Scatter Plot explores relationships between two metrics, such as loyalty versus non-loyalty sales amounts.
Horizontal Bar Chart compares values with a symbol or marker overlay for a second metric, such as on-hand inventory units as bars with inventory age as diamond markers.
Table creates a fully custom tabular view with configurable, sortable columns pulling from any metric category.
Select a Metric Category and Metrics
Select a Metric Category to define the type of data for this tile:
Sales includes net sales, net profit, total sales count, total revenue, gross sales, cost of goods sold (COGS), total tax collected, quantity, average cart value (pre-tax), number of carts, sales pre-tax, total discounts applied, refunds, and more.
Customers includes number of transactions, total spent, active customers, loyalty points, and loyalty signups.
Employee includes net sales, total sales count, deal types applied (auto-apply, coupon, and inline), phone numbers captured, and emails captured.
Inventory includes COGS, quantity, on-hand units, adjustment units, low stock, SKUs, weight, and cost per unit.
Select the specific metrics you want to display from the list that populates for that category.
Configure Grouping.
If your tile type supports grouping, select a Group By option to control how data breaks down along the axis.
Available grouping options include by store, sold date, product name, brand, order type, sold-by employee, and more.
The specific grouping options available depend on the metric category you selected.
π‘ Tip: Cost of goods sold (COGS) is now available as a metric in Intelligence. This has been a highly requested feature and is a great data point to highlight for business owners and accounting teams.
Set Column Width
Select the Column Width for the tile:
Half Row places tiles side by side.
Full Row spans the tile across the entire dashboard width.
π‘ Tip: A common layout pattern is to place summary KPI tiles in half-row width at the top of the dashboard, then use full-row width for detailed charts below.
Add a Title and Subtitle
Enter a Title describing what the tile measures, such as "Net Profit vs. Gross Sales."
Enter a Subtitle with additional detail about the data, such as "Last 30 Days, All Stores."
Preview and Save
Review the preview at the bottom of the tile editor to confirm everything looks correct.
Select Apply to add the tile to your dashboard.
Rearrange Tiles
Select the wrench icon to access dashboard settings.
Drag tiles into your preferred order.
Select Apply to save the new arrangement.
Set Dashboard Visibility
Select the wrench icon to access dashboard settings.
Under Visibility, choose:
Private to keep the dashboard visible only to you.
Shared to make it visible to all users with Intelligence access.
Specific people & roles to make visible to a more specific audience.
Great work! π₯³ You now know how to build a custom dashboard from scratch, configure tiles with the metrics and visualizations you need, and arrange them into a layout that works for your team.
Frequently Asked Questions
How many metrics can I add to a single tile?
It depends on the tile type. Some types, such as line charts, support many metrics. KPI tiles are capped at a maximum of four metrics. If you cannot add more metrics to a tile, the tile type may have reached its limit.
Can I mix metrics from different categories in one tile?
No. A single tile can only pull metrics from one category (for example, all Sales or all Customers). To compare metrics from different categories, create separate tiles.
Can I copy a tile from one dashboard to another?
Not at this time. If you find a tile configuration you want to reuse, you will need to recreate it manually on the new dashboard.
Can I turn a report into a dashboard tile?
No. Reports and dashboard tiles are separate features and cannot be converted between each other at this time.
