Whether you're splitting a tag prior to transferring inventory to another store, or packing up bulk flower and want to put a new tag on the item, we've got you covered! When you split a package in Flowhub and assign a new package tag, we'll push those same changes to Metrc, keeping your inventory and data synced between the point of sale and the regulator.
Please note that this feature is only available for dispensaries operating in Metrc states. If your state uses Biotrack, please see our article on sublotting packages here.
If your state/dispensary does not use Metrc, you can "split" a package by using the Move Rooms functionality and assigning a unique SKU to each batch.
Splitting a Package
Ensure you have a new Available Tag in Metrc onto which you can split the package. You can find available tags in Metrc under Admin -> Tags -> Available. Copy the tag you'd like to split onto from Metrc.
Ensure the user performing this action has a valid Metrc API key on their user with "Manage Packages" permissions.
If there is no API key on the user, the package will still split in Flowhub, but that split will not be able to be pushed to Metrc. If this happens, you will see an error message that states "Package could not be split in Regulator."
In Flowhub Maui, navigate to Inventory, and find the Package you wish to split. Select the inventory item.
On the right side, select the "Split Package" button.
If your package is in multiple rooms, select the Room that has the batch you wish to split.
Enter the new valid Package ID from Metrc in the "New Regulatory ID" field.
Under "Assign to Rooms", enter the quantity and Room to which you would like the new split package inventory to be assigned.
If desired, enter a new SKU (barcode) on the split package, or leave the field blank and Flowhub Maui will automatically generate a new barcode for you.
Tip: If you like to use Package IDs as your barcodes, you can paste the New Regulatory ID into the SKU field here, and Flowhub will recognize that as the SKU.
Select "Save."
The new package will be created both in Metrc and in Flowhub Maui with the source package decremented appropriately.
Troubleshooting Error: "Package Could not Be Split in Regulator"
If you see an error message stating "Package could not be split in Regulator", that means there was an error when attempting to push this split package action to Metrc. The package was split in your Flowhub inventory only.
Check the following:
Does the user performing the split in Flowhub have a valid Metrc API key with permissions to Manage Packages in Metrc?
Is the new Regulatory Id you're splitting onto a valid available tag in Admin -> Tags in Metrc?
If the package split in Flowhub was successful but not pushed to Metrc, you'll want to split the package in Metrc separately.
