Create a Campaign in Flowhub Marketing

Create, schedule, and send email and push campaigns in Flowhub Marketing, then track attributed sales and engagement.

Written by Valerie

Flowhub Marketing makes it quick and easy to reach the right customers with targeted emails and push notifications. In this article, we'll guide you through building, scheduling, and tracking a campaign so your team can drive repeat visits and measure the sales that follow.

Open the Campaign Builder

  1. Navigate to Marketing > Campaigns.

  2. Select + New campaign in the top-right corner.

The builder has three numbered sections: Campaign details, Audience, and Messages. A Live audience panel on the right side of the window updates as you build.

You can also start a campaign from Marketing > Segments. Select a segment, select Actions, then select Create campaign.

Add Your Campaign Details

  1. Enter a Campaign Name. This field is required.

    • Use a consistent naming pattern such as [Deal or Theme] – [Segment] – [Month Year]. For example: Concentrates Flash Sale – VIP – Oct 2026.

    • Clear names keep your campaign list and reporting easy to scan.

  2. (Optional) Enter a Description so your team knows what the campaign promotes and why.

  3. Under Campaign Timing, choose when the campaign sends.

    • Send immediately upon campaign publishing: the campaign sends as soon as you select Launch campaign.

    • Send at a date and time: select the date field, choose a day and time, then select the checkmark to confirm.

    • Scheduled times use the time zone of the store you have selected.

💡 Tip: Schedule sends for when your customers are most likely to shop, such as the morning of a weekend sale.

Choose Your Audience

  1. Under Audience, select the Segment(s) field.

  2. Select one or more segments. You can type in the field to filter the list.

    • Customers who appear in more than one selected segment are counted once and receive only one message.

    • Location coverage displays below the field and confirms which stores the campaign will send to.

    • Location coverage comes from the locations set in each segment. To change which stores receive the campaign, update the segment's locations.

  3. Review the Live audience panel.

    • Total estimated customers: everyone across your selected segments.

    • Email: customers who can receive an email right now, after opt-in and message frequency limits.

    • Push: customers with a saved Loyalty Pass, after message frequency limits.

    • The Live audience is an estimate. Flowhub recalculates it at send time, so the final count can change.

💡 Tip: The more specific your segment, the better your results. Targeted campaigns improve deliverability, open rates, and attributed sales.

Link a Discount Code (Optional)

Linking a deal adds its discount code to your campaign. Any transaction that uses the code also counts toward the campaign.

  1. Under Messages, select the Linked Discount Code field.

  2. Select the deal you're promoting. The deal's discount code displays below the field.

💡 Tip: Only deals with a promo code appear in this list. To create one, see Deals Overview.

Add Your Messages

Add one message per channel. Each message is written and sent separately, and you can send email, push notifications, or both.

Add an Email

  1. Select Email. The Select a template window opens.

  2. Choose a starting point, then select Use Template.

    • Starters: Promotional, Informative, Newsletter, or Start from Scratch.

    • Saved: designs your team has saved for reuse.

Select a template window showing the Starters and Saved tabs
  3. Design your email in the editor.

    • Drag blocks from the Content tab, adjust layouts in Rows, and set fonts and colors in Settings.

    • Use the desktop and mobile icons or Preview to check how it looks.

  4. (Optional) Select Save as Template to reuse this design in future campaigns.

    • The design appears in the Saved tab the next time your team selects an email template.

    • To update a saved design, select Replace an existing template, choose a Template to replace, then select Save Template.

    • Replacing a template changes the library design. It doesn't update email content already attached to campaigns.

Save as Template window with the option to replace an existing template
  5. Select Attach to Campaign. A message will display confirming the email is attached.

  6. Enter an Email Subject Line. This field is required.

    • Aim for 40–60 characters, with the key information in the first 30–40.

  7. (Optional) Enter Preheader Text.

    • This preview text displays after the subject line in most inboxes. Aim for 40–130 characters.

  8. Select Send a Test Email to review the email before it goes out.

    • To make more changes, select Edit Email Content.

💡 Tip: Use one clear call to action per email. Create urgency with time-based language, such as "Ends Sunday" or "This week only."

Add a Push Notification

Push notifications reach customers who have your Loyalty Pass saved to their phone.

  1. Select Push Notification.

  2. Enter your push message. Messages can be up to 140 characters.

  3. (Optional) Personalize the message. Choose Name or Loyalty Points under Personalization Tags, then select Insert Tag.

Push Notification card with a message and the Personalization Tags menu
  4. Select Send a Test Push to preview the notification on a test device.

💡 Tip: Keep it short, put the key detail first, and use action-oriented language, such as "Today only: 20% off carts. Show this message in-store."

Launch, Schedule, or Save Your Campaign

  1. Review your audience and messages.

  2. Select a button in the top-right corner.

    • Launch campaign: sends immediately. This button displays when timing is set to Send immediately upon campaign publishing.

    • Schedule campaign: sends at the date and time you selected. This button displays when timing is set to Send at a date and time.

    • Save as draft: saves your work for later. Drafts appear on the Campaigns page with a Draft status.

You can edit a scheduled campaign up to 15 minutes before it launches. Within 15 minutes of launch, cancel the campaign to return it to a draft. Then edit it and reschedule or send it.

Track Campaign Performance

The Campaigns page lists every campaign with its status, stores, audience, attributable sales, and channels. Use the Status, Audience, Channels, and Stores filters to narrow the list.

  1. Select a campaign to open its details panel.

  2. Review the Engagement Summary.

    • Attributable sales and Conversions tied to the campaign.

    • Message performance for each channel: Delivered, Opened, Clicked, and Open → Order.

  3. Scroll to review the Audience Snapshot, Campaign Details, the segments and stores targeted, and the attached messages.

  4. (Optional) Select Actions to Clone & edit the campaign or Archive it.

How Attribution Works

Attributed revenue uses the final purchase total, including discounts, taxes, and fees, less linked refunds. Purchases use 14-day last-touch attribution. A later refund reduces the campaign credited with the original purchase, even after that campaign ends.

For example, an attributed purchase with a final total of $100 adds $100 to revenue. A linked $20 refund reduces that campaign's revenue to $80. The refund does not move to a newer campaign the customer received.

Revenue can be negative. Attribution identifies purchases associated with a campaign; it does not measure how much additional revenue the campaign caused.

Best Practices

Keep your team aligned

  • Before you send, make sure budtenders know the promotion details, how customers redeem the offer, and when the campaign goes out.

Avoid over-messaging

  • Too many messages hurt deliverability and tire your audience. A steady, thoughtful cadence leads to better long-term results.

Use campaigns where they shine

  • Campaigns work best for promotions, flash sales, targeted outreach, and loyalty-driven engagement.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I schedule a campaign to send later?

  • Yes. Under Campaign Timing, choose Send at a date and time, pick the date and time, then select Schedule campaign.

Why is my Email or Push count lower than my total audience?

  • Email only counts customers who have opted in to email. Push only counts customers with a saved Loyalty Pass. Both exclude customers who reached your message frequency limit.

How do I change which stores a campaign sends to?

  • A campaign sends to the locations covered by its segments. Open the segment in Marketing > Segments and update its locations under Choose locations.

Does a customer need to use a discount code for a sale to count?

  • No. Any sale from a customer contacted through the campaign's segment counts if it happens within 14 days of the message. Transactions that use a linked code count as well.

What does "Send … regardless of frequency limit" do?

  • Checking this box sends the message to customers even if they already reached your message frequency limit. Use it sparingly, for time-sensitive messages only.

Can I reuse an email design?

  • Yes. In the email editor, select Save as Template. Saved designs appear under the Saved tab and on the Email Templates page in Marketing > Campaigns.

How do I run a similar campaign again?

  • Open the campaign from the Campaigns page, select Actions, then select Clone & edit.

Can I link the same discount code to more than one campaign?

  • No. A discount code can only be linked to one campaign at a time. If you reuse a deal often, create a duplicate deal for each campaign.

Does saving a template send an email?

  • No. Saving a design adds it to the library. Sending a campaign is a separate action.
