Send a Test Push Notification

Create test recipients and send them notifications to ensure everything is perfect prior to reaching your customers.

Before sending a push notification to your customers, you can preview how it will look on devices by sending a test message to designated employees. This helps you ensure formatting, personalization, and content appear exactly as expected.


Set Up Test Recipients

  1. Navigate to Employees in Flowhub.

  2. Select the user you’d like to receive test notifications.

  3. Click Create Loyalty Pass.

  4. Ask the employee to scan the provided QR code with their device to install their test Loyalty Pass.

  5. Navigate to Marketing > Settings.

  6. Under Push Notification Test Recipients, select the employees who have installed test Loyalty Passes.

  7. Click Save Test Recipients.


Send a Test Message

  1. Follow the steps to create a new message for a customer segment.

    1. From Marketing > Segments, select your audience.

    2. Click New Message.

    3. Write a short, engaging message.

    4. Personalize with tags, such as:

      • {{.Name}} = customer’s first name

      • {{.LoyaltyBal}} = customer’s loyalty point balance

  2. Once your message is ready, click Send a Test Push Notification.

  3. The test message will be delivered only to your selected employees.

💡TIP: Copy your drafted message before sending the test so you can easily reuse it when sending to your full segment.

Why should I test a push notification before sending?

  • Testing ensures that formatting, personalization, and message delivery look correct on customer devices.

Can I send a test push notification to all employees in the employee customer group?

  • Once each employee has downloaded a loyalty pass, you must add test recipients by name under Marketing > Settings. They will not automatically be added from the employee customer group.

After I test one notification, do I need to keep testing future ones?

  • We recommend testing every single notification you send to ensure spelling and content accuracy.
