Gift Cards allow customers to purchase an amount of credit for your store and give it to someone else. Flowhub Gift Cards are easy to create and can be done using gift cards from a vendor or by creating custom cards/values using a Flowhub-generated Gift Card barcode.

Gift Card features:

  • Create a gift card

  • Reload an existing gift card.

  • Inspect an existing gift card's value.

  • Print Gift Card barcodes for custom Gift Cards.

Watch the video below to learn more about gift cards:

Sell a Gift Card

  1. Select a customer from the customer queue.

  2. Select "Gift Card" from the top of the window.

  3. Scan or enter a "Gift Card ID" number. This is the unique identifier assigned to the card. This is typically scannable but can also be entered manually if desired.

    • If you would like to use a Flowhub-generated barcode to create custom Gift Cards, select “Generate SKU.”

    • If you already have a physical Gift Cards with a unique ID, enter that into the Gift Card ID field.

  4. Enter the Gift Card Amount.

    • This is how much value the Gift Card may be redeemed for as payment.

  5. Enter the Gift Card Price.

    • By default, this field will be autopopulated to match the Gift Card Amount.

    • However, if you would like to sell the Gift Card to the customer for a reduced value than the Gift Card Amount, enter a new Gift Card Price.

      • Use cases for this may be situations such as:

        • "Giving away" a free Gift Card to a valued customer, or

        • Promotion/Discount on a Gift Card by allowing a customer to purchase a $50 Gift Card for only $25 (for example)

  6. Select "Add to Cart,"

    • The Gift Card will show in the customer's cart just like any other product for sale.

    • If you would like the label for the Gift Card to print, select “print barcode” on the gift card in the cart.

  7. Select "Collect Payment" to complete the sale.

Inspect a Gift Card

  1. Select a customer from the customer queue.

  2. Select "Gift Card" from the top of the window.

  3. Select the "Inspect & Reload" tab.

  5. Select inspect.

    • The value of the Gift Card will now be displayed.

    • If needed, select print Barcode to reprint the Gift Card barcode.

    • You can inspect a Gift Card directly from the transaction screen as well.

At this time, Flowhub Maui reporting includes the following in Analytics:

  • Gift Card as tender type in Transactions report.

  • Gift Card in Sold Items report with “Gift Card” as the product name and Gift Card ID as the variant name.

  • Gift Card category in the Category Sales report.

  • Sold Gift Cards report.

Disabling Generate SKU on Gift Cards in Store Settings

If your store does not need to generate Gift Card SKUs in Flowhub because you are using physical gift cards that already have IDs on them, the "Generate SKU" option may be disabled in Store Settings to prevent confusion when selling a Gift Card.

  1. Select the name of the store in the upper right corner, then select Store Settings (you must have all Store Settings permissions on your Role to be able to do this).

  2. Select the Carts tab.

  3. Scroll to the bottom and enable "Disable Gift Card SKU Generation".

  4. Select "Save all Store Settings."

  5. When you navigate back to Cashier and open the Gift Card form, you will notice that the "Generate SKU" button is no longer displayed in the ID field:
