Deals is Maui’s auto-apply and promo code discount engine. Auto-apply deals automatically apply in the cart with no budtender intervention. Promo code deals require a code to be entered in the cart to apply.

Deals offer four types of discounts:

  • Cart Discounts

    • Cart discounts apply to all items in a cart regardless of category or type.

  • Product Discounts

    • Product discounts apply to a predetermined item or set of items.

  • Buy & Get Deals

    • Buy & Get deals handle your most complex deal use cases. These Deals require the customer to pay full price for a predetermined set of products to qualify for a discount on a different set of products.

  • Bundles

    • Bundles allow users to create a deal where they can scan multiple inventory items into the cart on the same SKU. This allows a dispensary to create gift bag deals where specific inventory items can be physically grouped and scanned into or manually added to the cart at a discount or a specific price.

To create a deal in Maui, navigate to the Deals side navigation tab. If this tab is unavailable, the user needs the Edit Deals role to make a Deal and view Deals to see applicable deals. Deals permissions are not required for a Deal to apply to the cart automatically or via promo code.

Deals Landing Page:

The landing page displays the active and inactive deals the dispensary has created. Select any Deal to view its details. You can also filter Deals by status, discount type, whether the Deal is configured for Loyalty Point redemption, or the Store the Deal is associated with. You can also use the "Search by Keyword" bar to quickly pull up a Deal by name.

Create a Deal:

  1. Select “Deals” from the navigation bar at the top left side of the window.

  2. Select “New Deal” in the upper right corner of your screen.

  3. Enter the Basics: Set the name of your Deal, Deal type, and Customer Type.

    • Cart Subtotal Discount

      • Build a deal that applies to the entire cart by a % off or $ off the cart.

    • Product Discount

      • Build a deal that discounts a specific item, brand, type, weight, or price profile.

    • Buy & Get

      • Build a deal where you can set what needs to be in the customer's cart (customer buys) to receive a discount on the applicable items set for discount (customer gets).

    • Bundles

      • Build a deal that discounts a specific group of products under one SKU.

Deal Limitations

  • There are several options to add limitations to your Deals, to configure them to apply in the scenarios you'd expect. They are:

    • Customer Type: Default customer type to Med or Rec, with the option in the drop-down to further decide if the deal is Med only or Rec only.

    • Limit by Order Type: Default to all order types, with the option to choose one or more of the following: in-store, order ahead, or delivery.

    • Limit by Location: Default to all and future locations, with the option to choose one or more locations as further criteria.

      • When creating Bundles, this option is available when selecting eligible products.

    • Limit by Customer Group: Default to no customer groups selected, with the option to choose one or more groups.

      • Note: if both the Veteran and Teacher groups are selected, that does NOT mean that a customer needs to be in both groups to get the discount.

    • Previous purchases necessary for deal eligibility: If you'd like to set up a Deal that only applies for "first time" customers, or "second time" customers, etc., this parameter allows you to select how many previous purchases a Customer needs to have made at the store to be eligible for the deal.

      • Use Separate Previous Purchase Count for Each Store: If you have multiple stores, this option can either be limited to previous purchases made from each store individually or from any of your stores collectively.

    • Total uses: This limitation allows you to create deals that will automatically expire after the number of uses that you specify.

      • Deal Use Count is Unique per Store: These limited uses can apply to deals at each store individually or across all of your stores.

    • Uses per transaction: Allows you to set how many times this Deal can be applied in a single cart/transaction.

Timeframe Limitations

  • Deals can be restricted to a specific day, a specific time of day, or a specific date range.

  • If no selections are made in this section, Deals will default to being available every day at any time.

Deal Discount Types

  • Cart Discount

    • Select the discount type, either % off or $ off the cart, and enter the discount amount.

  • Product Discount

    • Set a minimum quantity of the discounted product

    • Select prepacked or weighted

      • Prepacked: This will primarily be used as most items sold in a dispensary are a unit or “each” (in Metrc terms). (e.g., buy 2 of these items, buy two prepacked flowers). This is a single numeric field that does not allow decimal places.

      • Weighted: This is for bulk concentrate or bulk flower. (e.g., Buy 2-7 grams of flower, buy 3 grams of concentrate). When selected, the input can be a min/max weight range or a single value.

    • Select or search for qualified products

      • You can add a product name, category, brand, type, price profile, or weight/volume.

      • Exclude specific items from the deal at your discretion and select the purple “Add Products” button.

    • Once products are added, set the discount type and the amount for the deal, these settings apply per unit for prepacked or per gram for weighted items.

      • At a % discount

      • At a $ discount

      • At a new price

      • For $0.01

      • For free

  • Buy & Get

    • Customer Buys - These items must be in the customer’s cart to qualify for the Deal.

      • Select prepacked or weighted

      • Select or search for qualified products

        • You can add a product name, category, brand, type, price profile, or weight/volume.

        • You can add all products or individual products from a given category, type, etc.

      • Exclude specific items from the deal at your discretion and select the “Add Products” button.

    • Customer Gets

      • Select The Same as Buys or Something Else

        • Selecting “The same as Buys” will default to the same entry as what was entered in the Customer Buys section.

        • "Something else" will allow you to edit the items the customer receives for this Deal.

          • Select or search for qualified products

          • You can add a product name, category, brand, type, price profile, or weight/volume.

        • Exclude specific items from the deal at your discretion and select the “Add Products” button.

      • Once products are added, set the discount type and the amount for the deal, these settings apply per unit for prepacked or per gram for weighted items.

        • At a % discount

        • At a $ discount

        • At a new price

        • For $0.01

        • For free

  • And/Or Criteria:

    • Deals can add multiple products to the same Deal using the and/or criteria.

      • The AND criteria would mean that a customer needs to buy the above products added to the Deal AND, whichever products are added.

        • Example of AND: You need to buy one Wana Gummy AND one HiTimes THC Seltzer to get 20% off both.

      • The OR criteria would mean that customers could buy the above products added to the Deal OR the currently added products.

        • Example of OR: You need to buy one Wana Gummy OR one HiTimes THC Seltzer to get 20% off of both (in this scenario, the user would add both of these products to the Customer Gets Criteria)

  • Bundles

    • Bundle Settings

      • Scan or enter your bundle SKU, or select “Generate SKU” for a Flowhub SKU to be generated.

        • When this SKU is scanned, all items in the bundle will be added to an open cart.

        • A SKU must be generated to save the Bundle, but if your store does not have a barcode scanner, adding the items in the bundle individually to the cart will also recognize the Bundle Deal without scanning the Bundle SKU.

      • Select the Bundled Products Not Eligible For Other Deals box If you would not like items in the bundle to be eligible for other discounts.

      • Select the Print SKU When Saving Deal box and enter the number of labels you wish to print.

    • Customer Buys

      • Select eligible products for the Bundle.

      • Search by room, package ID, product name, or category to narrow your search.

      • Select “INCLUDE” next to the items you want to add to the bundle.

      • Once all products are included in the bundle, select the Included tab next to search results, and enter the quantity of each item in the bundle.

        • Bundles are store-specific, room-specific, and package tag/SKU-specific. This means that all items must be in the same store and room to be added to the cart.

        • Because Bundles are package tag/SKU-specific, two separate bundles must be created if a user has two regulatory IDs for an item that needs to be in a bundle.

    • Customer Gets

      • Choose the discount for the bundle.

        • At a % discount

        • At a $ discount

        • At a new price

        • For $0.01

        • For free

      • Set the discount amount.

    • Adding bundles to the cart

      • Scan the Bundle's SKU or add each item to the cart individually. Items in the bundle will show a purple box around them.

        • Note: if there is an item in 2 bundles, and both are added to the cart, the purple box will disappear, but the discounts for both bundles will still apply.

Additional Settings

  • Promo Code: select “Requires Promo Code” and enter a promo code if you would like the deal to apply via promo code. The promo code is not case-sensitive, which is different from Flowhub Classic.

  • Is this deal exclusive: If this deal should be the only deal the customer receives, select “This Deal Cancels Out Any Other Discounts In The Cart”

    • By enabling this setting, this deal will be the ONLY ONE the customer receives at checkout, even if they’re eligible for other Deals anywhere else in the cart.

    • If this box is checked, AND there is a deal that provides the customer with a more significant discount, Flowhub will apply the other discount.

  • Uses per transaction: If this deal can be applied an unlimited number of times in a cart, you do not need to select the “Limit Uses Per Transaction” option. If the deal can be applied a limited number of times in the cart, select “Limit Uses Per Transaction” and enter the maximum amount of times the Deal can be used in the cart.

  • Minimum Cart Subtotal to Qualify for a Deal: If a deal should only apply when the subtotal reaches a certain amount, enter the amount here.

Deal Stacking Options

Stacking is how deals are applied together in the cart. There are a few options for Deal Stacking settings in Flowhub - see this article on Deal Stacking here for more details.
