This article is a guide through the setup and formatting of your label printer. If your label printer does not have an option to set your label size with these steps, we recommend you check the printer manual or the manufacturer's website for more information.

Hardware Setup:

  1. Plug your label printer into a power source.

  2. Ensure the label media is loaded correctly: Down from the top and under the tabs.

  3. Ensure the label media is the correct type (2.25” x 1.25”, 2.25' x 4, etc.)

  4. Press and hold the "Feed" button until the light flashes once, then release. One configuration label should print, and the light should remain solid. If not, there is a problem with the label media.

    • For LAN-connected printers, note the IP address.

  5. Now connect the printer to the computer using a USB cable.

Driver Setup:

  1. On your Windows PC, open the "Start Menu" and search for "Devices and Printers."

  2. Select "Add a printer or scanner."

    • Add printer button

    • If you see your printer automatically added to this screen, skip to Step 3. If your printer shows as "Unspecified," you will need to install the correct drivers from the manufacturer’s website. Check your Printer Documentation for more information on where to download the required drivers before continuing.

    • If you do not see your printer listed, select "this printer that I want isn't listed."

    • the printer that I want isn't listed in blue font
    • Choose "Add a network, wireless, or Bluetooth printer" to add LAN, Wi-Fi, or Bluetooth printers, "Add a printer using a TCP/OP address or hostname" for ethernet connected printers, or "Add a local printer or network printer with manual settings" for USB connected printers.

    • alternate options to add a printer

  3. Once the printer is successfully added, right-click the printer icon and select "Printing Preferences."

  4. Select the General tab, then edit

  5. Type in the correct width and length (2.25” x 1.25”, 2.25' x 4, etc)

  6. Click "apply" then "ok."

  7. Select printing preferences once more and then "print test page."

    • If you cannot print a test page from this preference page, consult the troubleshooting section of the printer manual or manufacturer website.

Cashier App Setup:

  1. Open the Cashier app and log in using your username and password.

  2. With Cashier open, press the "Alt" key on your keyboard to expose the top menu.

  3. Click "Printers," then "Labels," and select your label printer.

  4. You can then choose "Print Test Label" to ensure the printer is linked correctly.
