Maui’s intuitive tax logic allows dispensaries to set taxes quickly and efficiently. Because Maui can handle multi-state operators, you can set taxes to apply to stores in specific states. Maui's tax settings also allow you to customize taxes by customer types and categories. It is highly recommended that you work with a tax official familiar with your local tax laws to set your tax rates.
Set Up a Tax
Navigate to "Pricing and Taxes" using the top right menu in the Maui window.
Select "Taxes" from the top tab.
Select "New Tax."
Select the Customer Type tax will apply to.
MED = This tax will only be applied to Carts belonging to Medical Patients with Medical Customer profiles in Flowhub.
REC = This tax will only be applied to Carts belonging to Recreational customers or Guest Checkout customers in Flowhub.
BOTH = This tax will be applied to all carts regardless of Customer Type.
Name the Tax and set the Percentage.
Calculate Tax before Discounts:
This setting is optional and is only for certain states or municipalities where Taxes must be calculated before any Discounts are applied to a cart.
Check your local tax laws to see if this applies to you.

Enter the Tax Name, select if the tax should apply to %THC or mgTHC, and enter the amount of tax in $ per unit of %THC or mgTHC, depending on what is selected.
Check your local tax laws to see if this applies to you.
Select which State this Tax will apply to. You will only see States in this list for which you have Store locations in Flowhub.
Select each Store this tax will apply to.
Select the Categories this tax will apply to.

Select the checkbox next to "Name" to assign a tax to all categories, or select specific categories to which a Tax should apply.
TIP: If you have a Category that needs its own tax rate (such as Edibles) - you will build that as its own separate Tax in Flowhub.
Select "Save" on the top right corner.
