Merge Metrc Packages That Share an Original Source Package

Learn how to merge Metrc packages that share an original source package into one package from Inventory in Flowhub Maui.

⚠️ Available for New York Operators beginning November 2, 2026.

Flowhub Merge Package makes it quick and easy to combine packages that Metrc lists under the same original source package into one package, without leaving Inventory. In this article, we'll guide you through choosing the target package, selecting the packages to merge, and reviewing the result so your Flowhub quantities stay in step with Metrc.

✏️ Note: Merge Package is only available for Metrc stores in states where Metrc has enabled Retail ID package merging, and only for packages that have a Metrc Retail ID. To learn more about Retail IDs, see Use Metrc Retail IDs.

Merge Packages Into a Target Package

  1. In Flowhub Maui, navigate to Inventory.

  2. Select the package that will remain after the merge.

    • This package is the target. The other packages are merged into it and take on its room and pricing.

  3. On the right side of the window, select More actions (the three dots), then select Merge Package.

    • If Merge Package is greyed out, a message will display: "Needs a Metrc Retail ID on this package." Choose a package that has a Metrc Retail ID.

  4. Review the summary at the top of the screen: Target Package Qty, Packages selected, and Qty After Merge.

  5. Under Packages to merge into the target, check each package you want to merge.

    • Packages that cannot be merged are greyed out with the reason, for example "Different original source package."

    • To find a package quickly, scan or enter its Regulatory ID under Add a package by Regulatory ID, then select Check package. If the package can be merged, Flowhub checks it for you.

  6. Select Save.

    • Flowhub sends each checked package to Metrc, one at a time. Save and Cancel stay disabled until Metrc responds.

    • When Metrc accepts every package, the screen closes and you return to the inventory list. The target package shows the combined quantity, and each merged package shows zero.

💡 Tip: Nothing changes in Flowhub until Metrc accepts a package. If you select Cancel before saving, no packages are merged.

Resolve a Metrc Refusal

If Metrc refuses a package, the screen stays open and a Merge Package Error message displays with Metrc's reason.

  1. Read the message.

    • If Metrc accepted some packages before refusing one, the message starts with "Already merged into the target:" followed by the packages that were merged.

  2. Select OK.

    • Packages Metrc already merged are removed from the list, and Target Package Qty shows the new total.

  3. Fix the cause in Metrc if needed, then select Save again to retry the remaining packages, or select Cancel to leave the screen.

Review Merges in Product Log

  1. Navigate to Inventory > Log.

  2. Locate the target package.

    • The target shows a Merged From Package entry for each package merged into it.

    • Each merged package shows a Merged Into Package entry with the quantity that left it.

Frequently Asked Questions

Why can't I merge two packages of the same product?

  • Metrc only merges packages that came from the same original source package and share the same Metrc item and unit of measure. The merge screen shows the reason next to each package that cannot be merged.

Can I undo a merge?

  • No. Metrc does not reverse a merge. Check the packages and quantities before you select Save.

What if a message says the merge may have completed in Metrc?

  • This message displays when Metrc takes too long to respond. Check the package quantities in both Metrc and Flowhub before you select Save again, so the same package is not merged twice.

Do I need a special permission?

  • Merge Package requires the Can Edit Inventory permission.

Why don't I see Merge Package at all?

  • Your store is not a Metrc store, or Merge Package is not turned on for your state or store. Contact Flowhub Support to check your store's setup.

Great work! 🥳 You merged same-source packages into one package and kept Flowhub in step with Metrc, with the full history in Product Log.
