Flowhub CSV Options makes it quick and easy to update your product catalog without editing products one by one. In this article, we'll guide you through downloading pre-filled templates, making your changes in a spreadsheet, and uploading them back to Flowhub so your team can keep pricing and product details accurate across all locations.
Update Products with Standard Fields
Use the Standard Fields template to update product details like descriptions, brands, types, and default pricing. This template includes Product ID and Variant ID columns, so you can also rename products and variants by CSV.
π‘ Tip: Think of the Standard Fields template as your all-purpose tool. If you need to change anything about a product other than pricing alone, this is the template to use.
Download and Fill Out the Template
Navigate to Inventory from the left navigation, then select Products across the bar at the top.
Select CSV Options in the upper-right area of the Products page.
Select Download.
Choose the product category you want to update.
Updates happen on a category-by-category basis because each category has different required fields.
Select Standard Fields (with Default Pricing).
The template will download with your existing product information pre-filled for that category.
π‘ Tip: You can also download a blank template from this menu if you want to create new products by CSV.
Open the downloaded template in your preferred spreadsheet program (such as Excel or Google Sheets).
Make your changes to the fields you want to update.
Important: The Product Name and Variant Name columns are how Flowhub matches each row to an existing product. If you change a name without keeping the original Product ID and Variant ID, a new product will be created instead of updating the existing one.
Save the edited file as a CSV.
Navigate back to Inventory > Products > CSV Options.
Select Upload, choose the category, then select Choose File and pick your saved CSV file.
Select Upload. A confirmation modal will display showing how many products are being processed. You may close this modal. The update will continue in the background.
Check Upload Status
Select the Notifications bell in the upper-right corner of Flowhub.
Review the notification for your upload status.
If the upload completes without errors, a notification will display confirming the update was successful.
If there are errors, a notification will display with an option to download the errors in a CSV file. Select the notification to download the file, review the issues, correct them, and re-upload.
π‘ Tip: Larger files take longer to process. The Notifications area will keep you updated as the upload works through your changes.
Verify your updates are reflected on the Products page.
Update Pricing Only
Use the Pricing Only template when you need to adjust prices without changing any other product details. This template also lets you manage Location-specific and Customer Group-specific pricing by CSV for the first time.
π‘ Tip: If the only values you need to change are prices (including group or location prices), use this template instead of Standard Fields. It keeps your other product attributes untouched, reducing the risk of accidentally changing something you did not intend to.
Download the Pricing Template
Navigate to Inventory > Products > CSV Options.
Select Download.
Choose the product category you want to update.
Select Pricing Only.
Understand the Template Layout
The Pricing Only template lists each product once for its default price. If a product already has a Location-specific or Customer Group-specific price, that product will appear on additional rows for each configured price.
Default row: Shows the standard price for that product and variant.
Customer Group row: Shows the price tied to a specific Customer Group (for example, "VIP").
Location row: Shows the price tied to a specific store location.
π‘ Tip: To add a new group or location price for a product that does not currently have one, copy the default row and insert it as a new row. Then fill in the Customer Group or Location column with the exact name as it appears in Flowhub.
Edit and Upload Pricing
Open the template in your spreadsheet program.
Adjust the pricing values as needed.
To add a Customer Group price: copy the default row for that product, paste it as a new row, enter the group name in the Customer Group column (for example, "vip"), and set the group price.
To add a Location price: copy the default row, paste it as a new row, and enter the location name exactly as it appears in Flowhub in the Location column. Repeat for each location that needs a different price.
Save the edited file as a CSV.
Navigate back to CSV Options and select Upload. Choose the category and select your saved CSV file.
Select Upload. A confirmation modal will display showing how many products are being processed.
Check the Notifications bell for your upload status, and download any error files if needed to correct and re-upload.
Frequently Asked Questions
Can I create new products using the Standard Fields template?
Yes. Download a blank Standard Fields template for the category you want, fill in the required fields, and upload it. Any row that does not match an existing Product ID or Variant ID will create a new product.
What happens if I change a product name in the Standard Fields template?
If the Product ID and Variant ID columns are present and match an existing product, the product will be renamed. If those ID columns are missing or do not match, Flowhub will create a new product instead.
Can I update pricing for multiple locations and customer groups in one upload?
Yes. The Pricing Only template supports multiple rows per product. Add one row for each location or customer group price you want to set. Each row needs the location or group name to match exactly what appears in Flowhub.
What if my upload has errors?
A notification will appear in the Notifications bell with an option to download the error details as a CSV. Open that file, fix the flagged rows, and re-upload. Products that did not have errors will still be processed successfully.
Can I update products across multiple categories in one upload?
No. Each template is specific to one product category because the required fields differ by category. Download and upload separate templates for each category you want to update.
Do I need to include every product in the template when I upload?
No. You only need to include the rows for products you want to update. Products not included in your upload will remain unchanged.
Great work! π₯³
