Flowhub’s Potency % Warning feature helps your dispensary align with updated Colorado MED guidance by comparing product THC potency against physician-recommended limits recorded on a patient’s profile.

In this article, we’ll guide you through enabling the feature and capturing potency limits so your team can confidently navigate compliance at checkout. 🌿✨

When enabled, Flowhub compares a product’s total THC potency to the maximum limits documented on the patient’s medical certification.

If a product exceeds those limits, a message will display before the sale is completed, giving your team the clarity they need to assess next steps.

This feature is available for Colorado Medical customers and can be enabled from Store Settings.

Enable Potency % Warnings

  1. Navigate to Store Settings.

  2. Select Enable Potency % Warnings for Medical Purchase Limits.

  3. Save your changes.

Once enabled, Flowhub will begin comparing cart items against patient-specific potency limits automatically at checkout.

💡 Tip: This feature is informational and does not automatically block sales. It is designed to increase awareness while allowing you to follow your store’s internal compliance policies.

Capture Potency Limits on Patient Profiles

To support the MED update, you can now record maximum THC potency recommendations directly on the patient profile.

These values should reflect what is listed on the patient’s physician certification.

  1. Edit or create a patient’s profile.

  2. Locate the Potency Allotments section.

  3. Enter the physician-recommended maximum THC potency for:

    • Flower

    • Concentrates

    • Other product types (as applicable)

  4. Save the profile.

Once saved, these values are used at checkout to compare against product potency in the cart.

📌 Important: These potency fields are not currently available through Metrc’s API for Colorado Patients. It is not possible to sync these values automatically to Metrc at this time.

For best compliance practices, we recommend recording these values in:

  • Flowhub

  • The patient profile in Metrc

This helps ensure documentation is consistent across systems. 🗂️

Potency Limits in Cashier

When a product exceeds a patient’s documented potency limit, a warning message will display during checkout.

The warning includes:

  • The patient’s recorded potency limit

  • The product’s total THC potency

This provides clear, side-by-side context so budtenders can assess compliance and proceed confidently. 💬

From the warning modal, you can:

  1. Select Remove Item(s) to remove non-compliant products from the cart.

  2. Dismiss the message to proceed according to your internal policies.

The experience is designed to reduce compliance risk without interrupting your workflow.
